Day of Arrival!

We arrived here in Guatemala around noon today, we are 2 hours behind Pennsylvania because Guatemala does not participate in day light savings time. We were greeted at the airport by Dylan, and he took us back to their house one hour away in Villa Nueva.

After getting unpacked, we went to the market and picked up some supplies to give in gift baskets to 2 SARF families. ( This is the ministry that we are working with, which stands for Serving At Risk Families) - The baskets included rice, beans, eggs, papaya, mango, bread and cereal. We went and visited the Maria sisters, one is 92 and one is in her late 70s. Tomorrow we will continue on a project that SARF has started, of building a small cinder block house with a store front for these sisters. Their main source of income is selling basic items and snacks from their tienda (store front). Derek and Jon (Guatemalan missionary) will be installing a metal roof on the house, while the rest of the team builds wooden shelves and seals the outside of the house with cement.

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. We will try to post on here most evenings. Pictures to come with the posts!!!

-Kimmy, Ron, Mary Lou, Anna-Marie, and Derek
